Walk through your ordinary day
Start at the entrance. Think about carrying groceries, working from home, having guests, doing laundry and using the outdoor space. Check the stairs, room connections, storage, parking and access. A room can look large in a photo and still be awkward for your needs.

- Which detail would be difficult to change?
- What is included in the sale?
- Who maintains shared areas or access?
Make a list for the right professionals
Ask about the roof, heating and cooling, foundation, repairs, permits and available disclosures. Note visible concerns, but avoid diagnosing a home from a short visit. Discuss inspection needs with qualified professionals.
Use the Houston flood checklist for maps, history, drainage and insurance questions. Check estimated property taxes, association charges and address-specific insurance before relying on a payment estimate.
Compare while the details are fresh
After each tour, write one thing you loved, one concern and one unanswered question. Compare homes against the same priorities. Keep your photos and notes only where you have permission to take and store them.
